Exchange Rate

An exchange rate tells you how many units of one currency buy one unit of another, such as ₹95 per US dollar. It is set by supply and demand for currencies, influenced by trade, investment flows, interest rates and central bank action.

Why It Matters

Every imported good, foreign trip and overseas tuition fee depends on this one price.

In India

The rupee moved from below ₹88 per dollar in late 2025 to a record 96.97 in May 2026.
