Nominal GDP

Nominal GDP measures output at current prices. Real GDP removes the effect of price changes to show how much more was actually produced. Nominal growth equals roughly real growth plus inflation.

Why It Matters

Taxes, salaries and company sales are all in nominal rupees, which is why nominal growth shapes how the economy feels.

In India

In April–June 2026, India’s nominal GDP grew 10.3%, far faster than a year earlier, as inflation returned.
