Global Capability Centre (GCC)

GCCs are offshore units set up by multinational companies to handle engineering, research, data, finance and operations in-house rather than outsourcing them. India hosts more than 1,700 of them, mainly in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai.

Why It Matters

GCCs are one reason India’s technology jobs keep growing even as visa rules abroad tighten.

In India

Banks, retailers and carmakers from around the world run large GCCs in India employing thousands of engineers each.
