Export

Exports are goods and services produced in one country and sold abroad. India’s major exports include software and IT services, refined petroleum, pharmaceuticals, gems and jewellery, textiles and smartphones.

Why It Matters

Exports bring in foreign currency and create jobs, especially in labour-intensive industries.

In India

Garments from Tiruppur and diamonds from Surat are labour-heavy exports that were hit hard by the 50% US tariff in 2025.
